In my Jolla (OS 2.1.3.7) i cant restart the media-tracker. Using the tool "update media database" the system answers with "failed to clear".

Background to try to update the database is that my phone cant permanent use any soundfile from my sd-card as ringtone. After a few hours or days my phone uses the standard-ringtone and forgot the soundfile.

With helples greetings Hubertus

Sailfish Utilities is 50% broken.

Open terminal and type in tracker reset -e

As for storing ringtones/music on sdcard, if you want to use as ringtones, store them on system memory for best reliability and not sdcard.

@Runningtrilo - (<----- use the @nickname to get someone's attention)

The reason you cannot copy using File Browser is because /usr/share/sounds/jolla-ringtones/stereo has different permissions to what /home/nemo has. Also regarding /usr/share/sounds/jolla-ringtones/stereo, your files will not show up there without editing the stereo.index file in the previous directory.

The best suggestion I can make is the following; put the files you want to use as a ringtone, into your Music folder (/home/nemo/Music), head to Settings/Sounds and feedback, tap on Ringtone at the top of the list and tap on Select from music files, find your file tap on it, job done. Your chosen tune should now be your ringtone.

SFOS cannot remember ringtones stored on sdcard after a reboot as you can read here, here and here. Solution is to store custom ringtones on internal storage.

In case of updating media tracker I have the same issue. I think I´ve read about it somewhere at TJC, but I can´t find the post at the moment. Hope I could help you

Try to start tracker manually and check if it works properly:

For me this failed on few short mediafiles which lengrh was 30 frames or so. After deleting those files I was able to change ringtones again.

Question @Edz

If i try to copy my ringtone to the system /usr/share/sounds/jolla-ringtones/stereo the file browser cannot copy the marked file.

If i copy the xxx.wav File to my home-index like: nemo/new-file/xxx.wav, the media-tracker find this file, but the system-tool "sond and feedback" didnt find this file.

i am stil helpless Hubertus

Thank you for this howto. I had copied the hole directory with my own sounds in the music folder.

If i copy only the soundfiles into this directory, it works.

good christmas time for you Hubertus
