A better click sound for camera app

Hallo community, I noticed that camera app is in general so 'cluncky' and raw, this from Sailfish 1.x. In detail I suggest a new reflex sound when you take a photo: a more refined sound, similar to a good reflex. Or similar to the N9's old sound. Actually the sound it's a sort ok "Clock-clonk".

Also, the Ui freeze for a moment, and then slide to left. A different transition may be more fluid?

Thanks

(I had both a jolla jolla 2.x and a sony xperia x installation...)

I would rather replace this soundfile with something completely silent....

I agree with @Robomike but this could be just another option among different sounds.

Thank you EDZ and Rgrnetalk. Your answer is not visibile online, but I see it via mail alert. I will try taking right the N9 nice sound (Canon looking) and placing in the right folder, with the same name.

And then I will report the result.

rgrnetalk removed his answer after I told him his info was wrong. I thought he would update his response, not remove it. The file in question is called camera_shutter.wav and resides in /usr/share/sounds/jolla-ambient/stereo/

What do you mean by 'Canon looking'?

Hi, I mean the sound of a Canon Eos D5's shutter, not an entry level reflex (like my Eos 1000d). It's a softer, more professional sound.

@Edz I am using Terminal, I am so noob but yes I typed before "devel-su + password". Then I entered: /usr/share/sounds/jolla-ambient/stereo/camera_shutter.wav

But I get "Permession denied" form terminal.

Basically I want to delete the file, and upload this nice camera shutter sound, really similar to my entry level reflex: camera_shutter._canon.wav.zip. To do that I need to change permission to the folder...

PS: I checked the post as "wiki", if you want edit it in a mini guide!

Just typing devel-su +pw and then /usr/share/sounds/jolla-ambient/stereo/camera_shutter.wav won't yield anything as you have not included an operator. Operator = program, in this case, use rm(rm = remove), so it would look like this;

devel-su rm /usr/share/sounds/jolla-ambient/stereo/camera_shutter.wav (enter) then password.

Now, lets say your new sound is stored in /home/nemo/Music and you want to copy that to /usr/share/sounds/jolla-ambient/stereo, you would do this;

devel-su cp /home/nemo/Music/my_sound.wav /usr/share/sounds/jolla-ambient/stereo/camera_shutter.wav (enter) then password.

In your case, the file you are replacing needs to have the same name. as the original file. So, you don't really need to delete the original as copying your new file will overwrite the original. Be sure to unzip and extract your file before sending it to your phone.

Thanks, I tried i but the new file, in position '/usr/share/sounds/jolla-ambient/stereo/' it doesn't produce audio. It works in the music app instead. Maybe some codec issue. You did a try?

Basically now I got an elegant 'silent' shutter...

I played with this years ago and it worked. The file must be the same type, same bitrate and same name. I would have said if it didn't work. I say it must be the same bitrate as Sailfish seems to be particular about bitrates.

It works. I used itunes at its best: I added the .wav to itunes, and I've seen it was at 96.000 khz instead of 48.000khz like original "clunky_shutter". Then I converted to AAC, changed itunes import setting to .wav mono 48.000 khz, and converted the AAC to wav.

This updated file it works! The sailfish camera is absolutely 'amazing' with this shutter sound. (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1S34SwGcBI8zgiyFtSxj9Nr6iuNzTWM3n) Download if you wants refresh the camera app.

The code for me was: devel-su mv /home/nemo/Music/camera_shutter_2.wav /usr/share/sounds/jolla-ambient/stereo/camera_shutter.wav Just because I downloaded the same file 3 time.

We can state that the audio setting is .wav / mono @ 48.000 khz for Sailfish Os system sound.
