Hi, I have just bought an Xperia X and updated the software as it says to do on Jolla's instructions. It is now on Android version 8.0.0, kernel version 3.10.84.

The instructions say to download Sony binaries for Android 6.0.1 kernel 3.10, will these work on 8.0.0?

I notice that Sony have these listed 'Software binaries for AOSP Oreo (Android 8.0) – Kernel 4.4 – Loire'

https://developer.sony.com/file/download/software-binaries-for-aosp-oreo-android-8-0-kernel-4-4-loire/

But these are a different kernel. What do I use?

Many thanks, Nick.

I don't understand the technical details, but I can tell you that for my X compact, I used "SW_binaries_for_Xperia_AOSP_N_MR1_3.10_v13_loire", from the Sony dev site, coming from clean flash 8.0, (not the latest version, but the previous update, [Feb. patch]), and working well.

Thank you both.

My build number now says 34.4.A.2.32 Will this build be ok for Sailfish X?

@Levone1 Thanks for pointing this out.

I tried 4.4 blobs, Sailfish X didn't boot.

Hi, even with Android version 8.0.0 you should follow our instructions, i.e. use https://developer.sony.com/file/download/software-binaries-for-aosp-marshmallow-android-6-0-1-kernel-3-10-loire/ .

Just make sure the build number is 34.3.A.0.xxx where xxx is 228 or higher.

EDITED/2018-06-20:
Also higher (more recent) build versions, currently (June 2018) 34.4.A.nn, are ok. Sailfish OS can be installed on them. Sailfish flashing script has a check for valid version numbers.

You mention that the build number 34.3.A.0.xxx where xxx is 228 or higher but what if the build number is 34.4.A.2.50? Can I still follow the instructions provided by the jolla team? Just want to be sure that I won't accidentally brick my device.

You say "...make sure the build number is 34.3.A.0.xxx..." where xxx >= 252. My build is 34.4 (34.4.A.2.70).

Does this mean installation of Sailfish X will fail?

Further, the file you are pointing to (on developer.sony.com) is a different one from the file mentioned in the Windows instructions, which says ...LOIRE.ZIP, whereas the file you are pointing to is ...LOIRE-1.ZIP. Maybe it would be a good idea to update the site with the instructions? I almost missed this post pointing to the ...LOIRE-1.ZIP version.

I did not observe my F5121 update process and ended to the version 34.4.A.2.50 before flashing. I flashed the device with official Linux instructions and everything worked well!
