Hello all,

is it possible to transfer the backup from my J1 to my new Xperia? The Xperia says, there is no SD card.

What other possibilities exists to transfer all the data to my new phone?

Thank's, Schultze

Hi, if you're using the same Sailfish OS version on both devices, this should ususally work. Maybe for some reason the Xperia X doesn't recognise your SD-card. So what you could try is:

  1. Create the Jolla 1 backup on another SD-card which works on the Xperia X and try again
  2. Backup the content of the SD-card you're using now (for example copy it to your computer) and try to format the SD-card on the Xperia X (under Settings/Storage). If the SD-card is being recognised copy the backup onto it.
  3. Sailfish also offers the option to share the backup via Dropbox, but I recommend using the SD-card

Here are some other links which might be interesting:

The Sailfish Backup doesn't back up stuff like local app data and caches. If you want to have these files on your Xperia, you need to copy the folders (in /home) manually.

try it via dropbox? or point 13 here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/jolla-sailfish/general/qa-sailfish-n4-thread-devices-t2727330

it describes the way using backup tool without sd card.

as addition, copy the config folders under home (likely starting with a dot in front most important .config and .local) to the new device. plus make a backup of you repos with storeman and transfer it also. you can then restore all apps in one go and it should then be nearly the same state like on the old device.
