Jolla uses the power of the community too little. There are many strong developers and ideas. The various approaches to using the SD card alone prove that the community could contribute much more than Jolla allows.

After my Xperia X didn't get along with the new SIM card due to a change of provider, and since the last update the SD card is no longer properly integrated, I had to set up Android again at short notice. What can I say: I am extremely amazed at how good the camera is, how smooth everything is, how easily cut and paste work, how error-free CardDAV and CalDAV work. The battery life is also much longer. How little storage space Android requires on the system was surprising, too. I realize that after such a long time - from Phone 1 and Tablet to Xperia X - I had come to terms with errors and shortcomings in SailfishOS.

Now I realize how little has been done about the mistakes and shortcomings since then.

One possible explanation is that Jolla is already working at capacity limits with the adaptation of new hardware. Updates are coming, but I don't see that much progress inside the system. The fingerprint sensor, well. No NFC, no error-free DAV, problems with SIM and SD... apart from the fact that I can't get most Android apps working anymore.

What is missing in particular is an ecosystem. Developers can ask for a donation, but they cannot claim payment. Therefore, there are probably no or hardly any really excellent alternatives for Telegram, Wire, Threema and many other applications.

In my opinion, an ecosystem is absolutely essential. And Jolla must make much greater use of the creativity of the community.

Meanwhile, my Xperia stays with Android 8, which I regret a little.

Native CardDAV/CalDAV in Android???? That's new to me.

Android is not using less storage space, but is responsible for the waste of space on Xperia with Sailfis X, because of it's really shitty partitioning.

On the other hand, I have to admit that progress is not really fast going. I hope they hold a lot of things back for Sailfish 3 and that's the reason. But who knows...

IMO they don't have the resources to listen to the community properly. Together.jolla.com is good for discussions and support, but bad for bug fixes. There are so much small and easy fixable, but important bugs that didn't got a fix short term. Things like adding a point and a comma to the numeric keyboard would be important for usability, but nobody is recognizing it.

@h.berd those little details, like the unpolished keyboard layout, drive me nuts.

Sailfish should attract more devs by competition, prizes, events etc.. i think thats the way to keep devs excited and doesn't cost much comparatively, hope jolla does this in future
