[How To][Jolla Phone and Xperia][Windows] Enable diag mode/modem, (for QPST, QXDM, etc.)
NOTICE AND WARNING - RISKY; HIGH POTENTIAL FOR HARD BRICK USING QPST
Even though I haven't been able to succeed in my original idea yet - https://together.jolla.com/question/186437/enable-other-3g-bands/ - I thought someone else, (who actually knows what they're doing), might appreciate it, and maybe increase my chances...
Needed: * Windows, (I used Win10 64-bit, but probably any) * Developer mode enabled * Files: https://mega.nz/#!IN4lnZwQ!8oK_dljNq819x6_THDBrqnmPmcTx2XLl_ZmVPx0z_r8 * Disable driver signing in Windows, (look it up for your version; not hard)
1) Extract files, (and install QPST, if you plan on using it) 2) Follow this guide - https://blog.peremen.name/entry/enabling-qualcomm-diagnostic-mode-on-jolla/ - to add diag mode capabilities 3) Restart phone and pc 4) Connect phone in with developer mode enabled. You should get a new device pop up in device manager, called "Jolla", or "Xperia X", with a yellow exclamation mark. Right-click, "update driver", "browse computer", "let me pick", "show all devices", "have disk". Navigate to the folder you extracted, and go to /OPO diagnostics driver/(whatever version)/...ini file. Click 'Ok', and 'yes' to any warnings/confirmations. Driver should install, and "Jolla" will change to "HTC Modem" in device manager. Right-click, and select 'properties', and you'll see port number, (COMx), which can be used to access modem.
Works for me...
except enabling modem, is there any chance this will work to bring back to life a dead Jolla phone ?

Levone1 ( 2018-06-27 12:41:11 +0200 )editAlso works for SailfishX...
Levone1 ( 2018-09-25 04:40:32 +0200 )edithm, any idea how to get this working in linux?
I don't have windoze and am even less reluctant to load up some hacked windoze software :)
juiceme ( 2018-09-25 15:31:32 +0200 )editI never tried on Linux. I would start by editing file on phone, and connect and see if it recognizes it. I guess the issue then is finding qpst qxdm for Linux.
