How to best switch from Jolla 1 to XA2plus with SF3 beta?
Hi,
I'm a rather happy owner of a Jolla 1 with some additional (storeman installed) apps and of course some few selected android apps. I'm also a happy owner of a brand new XA2 plus device with a freshly flashed SF3 beta including the new android layer.
Both devices run the latest SFOS 3 release i could find, namely 3.0.1.11 (J1) and 3.0.1.14 (XA2plus).
My naive approach for a move was to do a backup on the J1, storing it on the SD-card - and doing a restore on the XA2plus.
After the restore claims to have worked, on the XA2 I now do have a bunch of accounts - which all don't work. I have zero (!) contacts.
The non-jolla-app things like data for piepmatz are also missing.
I didn't yet check the andriod stuff.
I consider that a Fail.
I also tried to simply copy /home/nemo over (via SD-card) but that causes all kinds of strange side effects and non-working apps. Given there are a bunch of symlinks and bind mounts, not exactly surprising though...
So, what's the recommend way to move from J1 to X without losing all data?
I don't know how SFOS for Jolla 1 is different from SFOS for XA2 but I just tried to restore backup on Jolla C and everything works ok. Made it on 3.0.1.11.
So maybe you should restore you XA2 to factory state of SFOS and try to restore backup again.
If you use Storeman you make backup of your repositories and installed apps in Storeman app (don't know if it includes data)
If you need your contacts on XA2 asap open your backup go to directory People > data copy All.vcf to XA2 home directory > open on your XA2 Settings -> Apps -> People -> Import from contact file

TheSeer ( 2019-02-01 17:53:32 +0200 )editI knew about the People Import feature. But it cannot be the answer to restore a backup and then have to manually fix passwords, import contacts and also restore other things by hand.
Back in the days (tm) with my N9 i simply imported everything from my old phone via bluetooth and everything was fine. A bit disappointing that that seems to be gone...
TheSeer ( 2019-02-01 18:20:58 +0200 )editI did exactly the same based on the same combination of phones/OS versions and everything worked except for the accounts. I had to remove my e-mail account and another Exchange account and recreate them in order to work properly. In addition I had to log into my Jolla Account again. But contacts, sms, calendar etc. are all fine.

I went from an Xperia X to an XA2, signed in to my Jolla account, signed in to Dropbox and did a restore and was somewhat underwhelmed by the results. Like you: several non-functional accounts and no restored apps + data at all. I've done a factory reset and am going to add everything by hand now.
