Fixed it. Changed around the network settings trying different combinations which didn't work. Then put everything back to the way it was except for the names of the access points and it started working.

you can check hardware with csd tool
enable developer mode, start terminal app, type csd, then enter
but this sounds like a missconfiguration in the mobile.settings.
you can google for your.providers mobile settings and compare
