Jolla 1 failed update to Hossa [answered]
Hello,
I have tried to update my Jolla 1, but the update failed and left the device in partially working state: when I attach the charging cable, I get the battery screen. After holding the power button, I get the red LED and the "One moment ..." screen, followed by white LED and the Jolla logo. After a while, the white LED gets off, but the display remains black. Now when I shortly press the power button, the LED goes white, and another short press switches the LED off. The display is still black. Long power button press when the LED is white shuts the device down - the LED goes red and then the device turns off after few moments (when the charging cable is still connected, it beeps and displays the battery charging screen).
So, how can I unbrick the device? Thanks!
Did you try to run recovery mode? https://jolla.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204709607-Jolla-Phone-How-to-use-Recovery-Mode
Zandi ( 2019-05-02 20:33:03 +0200 )editThanks very much! Would you believe that after using Jolla 1 for all these years I did not know it has a recovery mode? Anyway, I have backed up ~nemo directory, did a factory reset, and now I am upgrading the OS through several versions. I will close the question when/if I manage to upgrade it all way up to Hossa.
In the meantime, I tried to unpack the backed up ~nemo directory (tar xvf /mysdcard/nemo-backup.tar), and got ENOSPC, even though df shows that there is olny 43 % of /home used. Strange.
