[SailfishX] [Gemini] When will we get Android support for the Gemini PDA?
When will we get Android support for the Gemini PDA?
On June 26, 2018 Jolla wrote in this blog about the Gemini PDA, that was eleven months ago:
We target to release the official Sailfish X for Gemini by the end of this year. It will be sold via shop.jolla.com. The full Sailfish 3 version will include all Sailfish features, constant SW updates, Android support, and full end-user support.
Will an Android support for the Gemini PDA still come?
edit190801: Still no aliendalvik with 3.1.0.11. Jolla, are you working on it or is the project dead? Would be nice to hear about it.
edit191124: No alien dalvik in 3.2.0.12 and not mentioned in release notes.
Is there Android Support for the Jolla Tablet? If not, they'll have to fix the issues with the scale and the screen rotation. The hardware keyboard could also be the problem.
bionade24 ( 2019-05-22 14:23:02 +0200 )editOn the Jolla Tablet Alien Dalvik is quite nice. It still uses arm-apks but works without a problem.
codeandcreate ( 2019-05-22 14:25:18 +0200 )editWould really be nice to see Android support on the Gemini. Would even be nicer if also Linux Desktop applications could be run. That would make Sailfish OS the perfect match for the Gemini and Cosmo. I have doubts that anything of this will happen at all, though...
Dietmar ( 2019-08-01 21:50:02 +0200 )editStill hoping for this too, I bought a license early for Jolla to show support but the lack of any meaningful navigation tools and pretty poor media tooling just made it pointless beyond the academic nature of it for me. Please Jolla!
markuk ( 2019-09-13 14:47:01 +0200 )editThe main purpose of my Gemini PDA is doing productive work using documents and Citrix access. Both is not available natively for SFOS. That is why I hardly boot to SFOS but rather use Android on the Gemini although all Email accounts and so far are created under SFOS.
Therefore I really want (and need) AD support for the Gemini
