@Edz come on man! dont believe a single word any snake oil seller tells, ever! also: you should really uninstall that malware from your pc
misc11 ( 2019-05-22 23:42:08 +0200 )editWith that logic, why should I believe anything you suggest? ;)
Clearly you think AVG is a pile of poo, fair enough, in general, I have no problems using it and it is not often I get such pop-ups, this one took me by surprise.
So, what AV do you guys use then?
Spam Hunter ( 2019-05-23 21:12:30 +0200 )edit@Edz no, no i dont think AVG is in any way special. not especially bad or good. its just they claim they have methods of detecting malware, which is bullshit and they promise that by using their service youre are save, which is not the case. in fact by using AV software you make yourself more vulnerable! AV software does parse code and code parsing is a very hard thing to do correctly and without exploits. and AV software runs on windows with a lot of rights.
overall youre much safer not using an AV at all. instead of trying to discover malware thats already infected your pc you should do prevention: dont run software from untrusted sources, use safer alternatives to widespread software (msoffice -> libreoffice, adobe pdf -> okular for example, and most importantly as browser exploits are a real danger ALWAYS use adblockers (ublock origin) and even better as a kind of script blocker (noscript or matrix) that requires some time to get used to but safety isnt for free. and not to mention the biggest thing: switch to linux! at least give it a shot! :)
