Ability to choose whether Android app’s background services run without UI
I’ve been pondering about idea of how useful it would be that it would be possible to specify whether specific application’s background services can run without actual application to be open.
Some Android applications are, kindly said, poorly made, and are using background services for all kind of fun things that are not really useful for an user, but are just wasting battery. On the other hand, some applications’s services, like Riot’s, are useful, and are often wanted to be running.
Sailfish has nice settings for every installed Android application. I don’t know how easy it would be to implement, but having an option there to tell Sailfish that this Android application’s background services should be killed after an user closes the visual UI of the application should provide nice benefits. A generic toggle, which makes the daemons disabled/enabled by default could make sense too.
This idea is years old. Many users here wanted also individual selection for each app. But this never was implemented, so no hope your post will change something...
