idea for weather [not relevant]

Native Weather app that looks like app icon on the app grid, but it shows current temperature and weather conditions. presing the button reveal detailed forecast . something like this.image description

Unfortunately, the applauncher does not seem to have support for dynamic icons.

The best way to implement what you want would be an icon in the events feed, which has been suggested in other threads.

I don't know if this would work with weather... or on SailfishOS. Maybe not, since I had to reboot to see the new icon of the app I am developing.

But the trick would be: generate a new version of the icon on the filesystem. when theweather conditions change. This should be done by a privilege application, though...

I think the calendar icon in Harmattan works in a similar way...

Another way is having some kind of support for overlays. You would not want to have fast updating icons, since that would wear the flash... but for daily updates or so, it would work.
