Financing of Community wishes

Dear Community,

Jolla is very committed to financing the wishes of their business partners from Russia and Bolivia and seems to have found a sustainable path for the operating system in the niche to survive adequately. Unfortunately, the wishes and ideas of the community users seem to go under a little on this, for SailfishOS however quite important, way. At least the main effort doesn't seem to be on important and much mentioned topics for the community, e.g. SIP, Android 8.1 support on the Xperia X, Bluetooth <-> AD improvements, etc. (just to name a few, and probably not the most important ones). Wouldn't there be a possibility for Jolla, based on the idea of Bountysource, to set up a portal on which the users can commit to a payment or donation for a certain feature and Jolla, a partner of Jolla, an OpenSource developer, or another developer with NDA and extended source code access can do the development for this amount of money in SailfishOS/MER/AD/whatever. Of course, it's completely unclear if there will be any people willing to pay for certain features and if these amounts are nearly enough to find someone. But I think it might be worth a try.

What do you think? Could it be worth a try?

I think it's a nice idea. I remember some recent comments on this. Of course Jolla needs to agree on it.

(Very short)From the perspective of a developer: putting a price tag on everything is not the solution. It works for bounty hunts to some extent, but when it comes to develop new stuff, then all is way more complicated. Paying for the initial development is one thing, but what about maintenance? What about a redesign, should Jolla change their architecture? Will you pay for this as well? It is a difficult sphere all this software development.
