Hi all, not exactely two years ago in fall 2017 I sacrificed 50 Euros and a brandnew Xperia X, that cost me 299 Euro, to put Sailfish OS on it, following this guide: https://jolla.com/sailfishx-macos-instructions/ After a month of testing in a personal everyday environment (https://together.jolla.com/question/176224/a-newbies-first-month-with-xperia-x-feature-request) my Sailfish X phone has been mostly lying around.

I took it out of the drawer only to install newer Sailfish OS versions just to find out afterwards that nothing essential worked better - i.e. from my point of view. Almost two years after installing SOX for the first time, and with the help of openrepos apps and android apks this phone is still not what I expected. And for some time I have been reading that there even would be no Android support beyond V4. Don't know if it is true.

All this brings me to the question if there is anyone on this forum, who managed to bring Xperia X from Sailfish back to Android (no, without better knowledge I didn't save anything from Android) or even better: forward to Lineage OS? I read somewhere on this forum that this shouldn't be to difficult, but I would need a little more instructions to get there (I was able to follow the Jolla installation guide for SOX without any problem). Since there are many people here with the Xperia X, I thought it would be a good idea to raise this question here. No offense. I'm just asking for help.

Soweit ich mich erinnere, habe ich einfach das Sony Companion Werkzeug verwendet und "reparatur" ausgewählt. Ersezt alles mit aktuellem System.

Linky to Jolla's official instructions

In addition to Emma, as Jolla suggests, you can also use the opensource Flashtool . We had success with it in the community (I used that one for some flashing on my phone).

Or you could check any LineageOS guide on XDA developper forum. Basically, you already have an unlocked phone. The only "sailfish-to-Android" specific thing is that you can't keep your current data partition: it's doesn't contain regular android data (in EXT4 partition format), it contains Sailfish' storage partitioned with LVM. So you would need to reformat it (either by flashing an empty partition with the above tools, or probably by running TWRP or something along these lines).

But keep in mind, if you didn't backup the TA from the phone before unlocking, you can't completely revert to stock conditions. (DRM and Sony high quality photo processing might rely on things on the TA). Though if you phone is less than two years old, it might be possible to try doing something using the warranty.
