No Android Support Without Sim
So I recently flashed latest Sailfish on my X Compact, (clean flash from scratch), and I never got the prompt during setup about Android apps. I thought it must have been a bad flash, so did it again, and still the same. At the same time, I knew that I was having trouble with my sim slot, but didn't put the two together at first, but now I'm pretty sure they're connected...
Is it the case that you won't get Android support without an active sim?
It's the same phone I've had for three years, and have run several different SF versions on, going back to original comminity port 2.1 by steph. I have official X license, and patched fw files. I have had Android support all along, until just now, when the sim reader broke...
Update - so I have a feeling that my issue is bigger than the sim reader. Actually, the phone senses the sim, and I get typical notification when inserting or removing it, but no signal is picked up. I tested the sim on another phone and it's fine. Also, the battery is draining fast, even on a new firmware flash with nothing except core functions enabled and airplane mode activated. I also tested it on stock Sony rom and AOSP, and the same. I wonder if the reason I don't get Android support is because the software isn't able to read the device info... Is it possible that could be a.corruption of some partition that might be fixable?
I guess it's probably a dead main board... Well, it served me well.
Can confirm that there are no issues getting Android Support upon Xperia X Compact without SIM in place as just created a new backup device very recently so your update conclusion is very pertinent.
