hi, group, is it possible to get whatsapp backup to a google drive? I have a XA2 and microG is installed. Whatsapp opens a microG Google login dialog telling me my account 'already exists on the device' not letting me define my account as a backup target.

I think i found the ultimate solution!
1. install AliendalvikControl
2. open it and click settings and follow my screenshots. Sorry they are German but you see the icons and positions.
Now open WhatsApp and you can use google drive. Also in other apps google drive is now available.

super many thanks, this works! (however I'd prefer free choice of backup target) now.. how to mark your anwer as accepted?

you must click on the small hook below the upvote/downvote arrows left of the answer field

Now I can see the accounts, but none is selected in Whatsapp prefs. When I try to select one, it issues a popup saying "Authenticating with Google Drive", then the popup disappears and no account is selected, so no backup can be made.

I think I have to explain also the complete workarround for microG. I have also solved this last weekend. I will make some screeshots and formulate a description.

You have to look here. There is a good description. You need the app FakeStore and have to enable microG and FakeStore. In the moment I not found the screnn to enable both.
