Xperia 10 and 10 plus, WLAN HW and SW

I would like to know about WLAN of these devices. Do they have same WLAN HW or are they different? What about WLAN drivers, is the code the same for all or are there differences? Are the drivers written by Sony, Android or Jolla? Is it possible to burn the WLAN radio by a bug in the code?

Background is, that in the middle of January I bought a Xperia 10 plus dual Sim, and installed Sailfish X on it. The device worked OK until the end of February, when the WLAN stopped working. There were no error messages in Sailfish, but the device didn't find any wi-fi networks and didn't create a hotspot. Just like the WLAN-radio were down. A couple of times I got the wlan working for a while after the device was cooled 5 minutes in freeze. I think this is a indication of HW failure because it reacted to temperature change and so responsible should be Sony.

Of course, because the bootloader was unlocked for Sailfish installation, Sony warranty was void. They didn't even want to discus about the thing. Now I wonder, if it is possible to destroy the wlan from software and if so, is the SW from Sony, Android or Jolla.

Original Sony Xperia 10 plus Dual Sim cost 350e, then the repair 250e. So I have a quite expensive phone now.

According to EU directives it is the sellers responsibility if selling defect devices. Until now I have not begun to discuss about the issue with the seller, Gigantti. Let see, if i'll do that.

Bummer.

One thing to note is that phone wifi gear is generally not designed to be in access point mode a lot. So don't usethem as routers 24/7.

Actually even bootloader opening cannot void warranty (recuiring that you can somehow proof/ have evidence it's manufacturing failure) in EU, because eu have some regulations about that.

Too bad that it happen to you. But that shows clearly one major issue with SailfishX. The loose of warranty.

In this case I am pretty sure you got a falty device at the start.
