Hi,

it would be interesting to have such an app - data is freely available

A perhaps underrepresented feature of the browser is that you can add links to the app grid.

Tapping on it opens the browser to the respective web page.

  • browse to url in native browser
  • star/bookmark it
  • go to bookmarks screen
  • long press on the bookmark
  • select 'add to app grid'

This could work as an akternative to a full app.

Or of course find an RSS feed and follow that.

Hi, well i generally have two problems with "web pages" 1. the SailfishOS Browser pretty much sucks and cannot display the information with a decent speed. 2. the amount of data transferred is usually just ridiculously high. The 1.7 MB is still moderate (in your concrete example) - but usually the pages are just bloated. The relevant information needed to display the information is most likely < 20k - and mobile data in germany is still way too expensive. i have a 200mb limit for mobile data with decent speed - everything over 200mb will be slowed down. That is why i prefer an app that only transfers the data absolutely necessary.

I don't wanna know how many cases they are. Feels like the radio is updating us minutely :)

Also somewhat relevant, a checker in shell:

Release early, release often ;)

Awesome and I hope you can share it e.g. via OpenRepos.net (don't forget a donate link e.g. via PayPal)! If you could use some trusted source of the data or some selection of the source with a refresh button this would be nice... also if some of the info is also in the cover of the app. Thanks mate!

It's now more than two week that you posted, that you have written an app. I think the users would appreciate the app now - even if it is not really polished. Otherwise it does not make sense to release the app when the pandemic is almost over. Better to something now (that may not be that polished) - than a perfect app that is released in two months - when it is not longer that relevant. IMHO.

In the absence of a native app, the John Hopkins University is publishing data here: https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html

For the UK and possibly other countries there is a very good android app here... https://covid.joinzoe.com/us

there are 3 million users of this in the UK.

Best wishes

Before blindly getting the Zoe app, perhaps review the list of who they share data with: link text

Exodus Privacy couldn't scan the app due to geofencing, but DEfensive Lab Agency could: link text
