Anybody writing a coronavirus tracker app?
Hi,
it would be interesting to have such an app - data is freely available

We have moved to a new Sailfish OS Forum. Please start new discussions there.

I made the app today :-) It still needs some polishing but I will release it soon.
Awesome and I hope you can share it e.g. via OpenRepos.net (don't forget a donate link e.g. via PayPal)! If you could use some trusted source of the data or some selection of the source with a refresh button this would be nice... also if some of the info is also in the cover of the app. Thanks mate!

Otherwise it does not make sense to release the app when the pandemic is almost over. Better to something now (that may not be that polished) - than a perfect app that is released in two months - when it is not longer that relevant. IMHO.

Italian official reposotory: https://github.com/pcm-dpc/COVID-19 and both desktop and mobile render.

there are 3 million users of this in the UK.
Best wishes
Alex

chris_bavaria ( 2020-03-21 19:22:13 +0200 )editA perhaps underrepresented feature of the browser is that you can add links to the app grid.
Tapping on it opens the browser to the respective web page.
This could work as an akternative to a full app.
Or of course find an RSS feed and follow that.
nephros ( 2020-03-21 20:09:26 +0200 )editHi, well i generally have two problems with "web pages" 1. the SailfishOS Browser pretty much sucks and cannot display the information with a decent speed. 2. the amount of data transferred is usually just ridiculously high. The 1.7 MB is still moderate (in your concrete example) - but usually the pages are just bloated. The relevant information needed to display the information is most likely < 20k - and mobile data in germany is still way too expensive. i have a 200mb limit for mobile data with decent speed - everything over 200mb will be slowed down. That is why i prefer an app that only transfers the data absolutely necessary.
