how come my Macintosh can't play MP4 movies from my Sailfish phone? They play ok in Youtube but they don't play in Preview or Quicktime player.

No problem playing upon Mac OSX Catalina with QuickTime Player .mp4 created today using Sailfish 3.2.1.20 upon Xperia X Compact with g7 patch.

I know hardware encoders have problems with files recroded on Android or GoPro, and e.g. FFMpeg has to fall back to software. So maybe your player isn't falling back correctly?

don't know really.. I have SailfishOS 3.3.0.16 and OSX 10.14. Quicktime player messages unknown error (-101) VNC crashes on start. Youtube uploads and plays those videos.

Can you upload the original mp4 file and share a link? Then somebody with a Mac can test if they have the same issue?
