Markdown basics [not relevant]

You can mark your text in italic by placing * or _ to the beginning and end of the word. The same works for marking text bold if you use ** or __ at the beginning and end of the word.

Web links appear if you put the linked text inside barckets [text] and then right after include the link in parentheses (link).

basic HTML tags are also supported

Alternatively, TinyMCE can be used for both Questions and Answers if it makes user's life easier...

Askbot provides WYSIWYG editor for entries. And it uses own mark-up format. Why there should be smth. else?

It's whether markdown (with the basic editing helpers on the menu bar, B, I | Link preformated txt, numbered list bullet list) or TinyMCE that has a lot more... IMHO, markdown (current default) is good enough for now.
