Hi, I just looked around a while and didn't find anything like this. So I'm just putting this out there hoping its not redundant.

However, the Situation is this: When I am driving, I put my Jolla into the phone dock and plug in the radio to listen to my music.

When I want to skip a song I press the power button, swipe down to open apps screen, select the right application, wait a moment till app is visible.

All this takes about 2 to 3 seconds in which I'm focused on my phone and not on traffic. And I really have to be focused because I don't want to bring the wrong app back to the front. For me thats a lot just to press the "next" button. And I guess it really isn't save.

My suggestion would be to show the last open app after pressing the power button. Which means, when I put the phone to sleep with an app active (on top, in the front, in the foreground, you know what i mean ... ;) it shows exactly that app when I wake it again.

Another example for all non-drivers among us: I also find it kind of annoying when I write a message, put the phone to sleep and the answer comes like 2 seconds after and I have to do all of the above to bring it back on top.

You must be tired of this but to give a little perspective I will compare the Jolla to my old phones. Sorry about that!

N900: Klick the lock switch and continue where you left. Ideal in many ways. N9: Press the power button swipe away the welcome screen and continue where you left. Not that easy but something I could do without looking and still a step less than with the Jolla.

I, myself, always close or minimize my applications when putting my Jolla back into my pocket. So I would always be able to check the clock. If I leave an app on top its usually because I need it probably again immediately. What about you guys? Would this be something you might be interested in?

[EDIT]

After poring over this a little longer, I had another Idea that would fit the "Sailfish Way" a little better! The notification screen is basically nothing more than any other welcome screen. It shows the clock and some notifications for a quick peek. But when you slide down to the app screen the last active app could automatically be selected. Or even better: When you slide down you swipe directly into the last active app. Maybe in the same gradually detransparenting (is this even a word?) way as when you minimize an app. I think this could fit the overall feeling of Sailfish a little better and Jolla would still be "unlike" ;)

Hi, and welcome to the forum! I agree with you.

There was this: https://together.jolla.com/question/472/implemented-in-1038-after-screen-time-out-return-to-last-active-app/ which is closely related, but that question is closed – the desired behavior was implemented in 1.0.3.8., but it only works with automatic screen timeout (not when you have put the phone to sleep yourself).

+1 on this one! Using the physical button for this would make sense. At least to me. Original poster: thanks for bringing this up.

I would prefer a similar behavior like in Android. If you swipe the lock screen away, you should see the same screen as before putting the phone to sleep.

+1. When waking up 80% of the time I want to see application that was open previously and I find it really annoying that I have to go through several screens and search for appropriate cover in order to reopen last application. One suitable solution to this would be left or right gesture from the welcome screen.

How about a configurable remorse time-out that can be set to a very large value?

Although I would like this idea (one of the proposed solutions) to be implemented, there will probably be many people who like the way it is now better (when waking the phone).

So my suggestion would be to make it an option in Settings: by default waking the phone would behave same as now, but for others they could choose the option to have the latest app opened (before the phone went to sleep).
