NFS mount app [answered]

It would be nice to have an NFS mounting app that would work (possibly via openvpn) or whatever network. The biggest benefit would be that you could eg: play music or videos without having to copy the file over network.

I imagine that some people could like cifs too.

Edit: i know that NFS access should be possible in the basic OS, though an app to manage it would be nice :-)

A nice touch would be be able to pair the NFS mounts with a certain connection/WiFi AP. Like this, it could mount the NFS volumes automatically once they are reachable. :)

not a bad idea, though eg an openvpn connection or a native connection if i'm home, both should work :-)

As has been mentioned on IRC, some consideration will need to be given how would Tracker handle this - so that it does not reindex it every time it is mounted, indexes only chosen directories, etc.

afaic it doesn't need to be indexed, but sure...

There is an app that can do exactly that: FishNetMount. It's available on OpenRepos and allows to connect SMB or NFS network shares.
