1) There is a very large amount of people waiting for your launcher to go live on Play Store. Jolla phone owners should come first with the software updates but given the amount of Android users/owners out there I would have to guess that it (people waiting for your launcher) is a number far larger than the current Jolla phone owners just to put things in perspective.

Could we get an estimated month or 2 month time frame? Something like Apr-May?

2) Also can you give a little bit more info like, "it will scale to most screen sizes" or "it will work with devices running Android 4.1 or newer" or something like that? This way the guys waiting and hoping to see it don't get deflated and disappointed when it comes out if it does not work on their phone.

2a) Will it be its own launcher or will it be a skin on another launcher?

3) Will we have working app covers like on Sailfish that will work with the cover gestures? Maybe cover gestures will only work with the native Android Apps?

4) How will you handle the learning curve, will there be a tutorial video on the app store? A little icon somewhere on the screen to do the tutorial? Are you going to be very clear in some way that this is a "try it before you buy it" demo product and make a video showing how the full OS is way better and if you want this OS on your phone tell your carrier? I mean that is your goal right, to create a large demand with the customers asking, "hey Sailfish OS is available for all of these other phones, I want it for mine too ATT or T-mobile, etc."

5) Are the launcher updates going to follow behind the OS updates by about a month? 2 weeks?

What is the meaning in such questions? Will the answer influence any of your decisions? It should not, because you cannot be sure that the answer is still valid by the time the SF launcher appears.

Also for the release date: It has been stated (sometime during second quarter 2014, if I remember correctly). Be happy, if it appears by the end of the stated quarter and is not delayed due to unexpected technical reasons.

I don't like your answer, it is negative and discouraging. Also, the first sentence (and 2nd) is a question not an answer. "What is the meaning in such questions" - Are you saying that you don't like my main question and sub questions? I believe I said why I and others want some more details. There are many people eagerly waiting for it. Yes it will affect my decisions and many other phone buyer's decisions both now and in the future.

My answer in other words: You cannot expect to get an answer you can rely on.

If Jolla would (could) commit themselves to any more specific date than they have given, they had done so. Also, expect that it is by purpose that they have not given any more details on what the launcher will be.

Summarizing: Jolla (as any other development company) will not / cannot give you more details as already are published in their press releases.

it's like asking someone - how much will it cost to do performance testing on a piece of software that has yet to be written. they can only give you an estimate. a) if you want an answer NOW (before they have had a chance to estimate), they will give you some wild number that is buffered like crazy to safeguard themselves. for example, jolla might say, "sometime this century) b) if you want a specific answer and give them time to estimate, it is still difficult to nail down a specific date but if that's what is required they would probably give you a date that is also safe for them but a bit more realistic than (a). for example, they may say "31 december 2015".

i'd rather not pressure them into giving an exact date. my guess now is that a) it will be a skin launcher b) it will launch when it's ready. but i'm sure they have internal datelines that they need to adhere to (remember they have a couple of investors waiting for ROI) so the release timeline of Q2 2014 or whatever is probably close to such datelines c) i doubt android app will have cover pages. android apps have not been engineered this way. i think only the native sailfish apps that run on android will have support the sailfish features introduced by the launcher. d) their goal of releasing this is to train users and make it easier for them to transition to full fledge sailfish eventually. and i remember them saying they have failed in the UI usability department because "we suck" (i.e. they suck). so i'm guessing they will be putting more emphasis on this part either by making tweaks to the UI (which is unlikely except for small changes), and they will have other channels for training (e.g. brand ambassadors, training videos, website tutorials etc).

hth. and hope i didn't offend anyone.
