The mediaplayer app needs support for .pla playlist files or have other easy ways to create large playlists. It is very easy when you can just play a specific playlist depending on your mood or based on the people you are with, but adding 100's of songs manually is a pain.

I don't have any solution, so only adding a link for a related topic: File type associations

.pla seems to be a binary format, have you info. about it (who made it, is it free to integrate, a description of the format) ? Two very popular formats work already on Jolla-Media: .m3u and .pls You should have no difficulty to find a software on Linux/Mac/Windows that help you to create large playlists in one of these (I tested .m3u but another user seems to use .pls link text).

@Jtog The only info I have on .pla files is that they are generated by windows automatically when you right-click -> create playlist in your 'Phone memory' folder. This also works on Windows Phone 8.

I was unable to find the other playlist formats with my search query so thank you for that answer. That's almost as easy to create a playlist and suits my needs fine.

One possibility is to use iTunes. Playlists can exported in *.m3u8 format. Then edit the generated (text) file to indicate the actual music directory on your Jolla instead of iTunes music library directory. For example: file:///run/user/100000/media/sdcard/...artist-name1
