Instead of bundling the white The Other Half with every jolla and making users purchase other color variants separately, why don't you just let them pick their preferred color when buying the device?

Guess that's another three steps in the process. Will you pay another EUR 25 extra just to be able to select the TOH that comes with your device?

I think to choose the color of TOH when buying the phone would be great.

this is all because of the hypothetical value associated with the TOH. its nothing more than a plastic cover. (until something considerably remarkable is released by Jolla; other than ringtones, wallpapers and free games).

@Anna TOH is a part (if not half) of the device. Original price of the device includes price of this plastic back cover. OP is just pointing out why should it be considered a separate commodity instead of different colour of your phone

@Anz Dealing with the logistic structure will raise the price. I said that's another three steps in the process. Not just because it's funny to say that. Let's assume you order a jolla without back and want an Aloe TOH. It's currently not available because it's sold out and it will take 8 weeks until the next batch arrives. Are you fine with that? The included TOH doesn't cost like 30 EUR. You said it's a piece of plastic. Extra TOH's are that expensive, because they require separate logistics, separate packing and storage space. Whenever you buy something as a complete set, it's always cheaper than when you buy spare parts. Choosing the coulour of the TOH that comes with your jolla will raise the price because it's more work for jolla.

concern was about the initial step; the approach to make white TOH as the 'default' on all the units manufactured. So that it lead to a situation where any other color becomes a spare part which requires additional logistics. Lets just say if Jolla blindly chose to make 50% white and 50% black TOH in the 1st batch, would that have had any significant impact on the operating cost? Later, the %s could be varied following a user preference pattern based on the orders received. or if that is too costly, just stick to the % set initially: 50:50 instead of 100% white. or if not enough buyers, revert to 100% one color in the next batch. Or is it just a good marketing strategy to preserve the concept of TOH until value-added TOHs are rolled out in the future?
