Yandex is for sure a nice default, however, there are good alternatives also and I know that many people prefer other appstores.

It is a commercial agreement I think between Jolla and Yandex. Yandex is installed as default Android store but anyway it exists a lot of them across the web so you can just install the one you prefer. Anyway if you want to remove Yandex store, go to /data/app and remove com.yandex.store.apk or in terminal

devel-su

Type the password you defined in "Developer mode" menu, SSH paragraph. Then

rm /data/app com.yandex.store.apk

That's all. Android support should continue normally. You can also just copy out com.yandex.store.apk for reinstalling it later.

Edit: I have to precise that if you just delete Yandex Store and don't keep a copy of it and if you later want to reinstall it, you will probably have the idea of uninstalling and reinstalling Android Support. It's not a good idea cause you'll lose all data of your installed Android apps. So the solution I provide above is better in my opinion.

Great, immediately removes yandex store from the app launcher :) Just to be sure, better keep a copy instead of deleting the file: mv /data/app/com.yandex.store.apk /home/nemo/

Found a solution. If you install 1Mobile.com Appstore there is ab Appmanager included. Menu at left side, there search for managing icon. Quick uninstall selection offer s Yandex also for deinstallation. Works.

Yandex is removable, but it is required for Android support.

That's what I mean. If Android support is installed, Yandex comes with it and can't be removed, at least not in the App drawer.

Is Yandex still required if I've installed an alternative app store (eg. Google Play Store)? I can see why its installed automatically with Android support, but would have though it should be possible to remove it if the user installs an alternative Android app store.

Maybe edit the question to "Make Android support independent of Yandex store"?
