[feature-request] Switch from 3G to 2G when connected through WLAN
Can we have an option, or even a default behavior, that switches the network from 3G to 2G automatically when connected to WLAN? That would be much more power efficient...
At the moment i do it manually everytime i check into a WLAN.
I think this is a good idea!

TK ( 2014-05-17 15:59:49 +0200 )editWhat should be the advantage? Less battery drain? The difference would only be noticable while a call is going on (and, to some extend, on long journeys).
Your trade-in: Privacy. GSM (= 2G) and GSM encryption has been hacked long ago. It is not a problem to intercept your signal and listen to your conversation – not just for state agencies but also not for private ears.
jgr ( 2014-05-18 02:04:45 +0200 )editadvantage: battery consumption is much less than with 3g if youhave a constant data connection (such as xmpp, e-mail updates).
edgar ( 2014-05-18 09:48:23 +0200 )editIt is also my idea 5 years later. I create not a new question because I found this.
Is there planed in SFOS > 3.2.1.20? In the moment I use this with the app "situation" with time rules to swich in 2G with wlan. The effect is, that my Sony Xperia 10 can new 2,5 days without charching! But I mean if I could choose it in settings it is better.
