Could it be possible to have a preview of any notification by long pressing (or some other gesture) the notification in notification screen without opening the app (phone, messages, email etc.)?

E.g. there are two notifications in the notification screen: a new sms notification and a new mail notification. Now one has to tap the sms notification and the Messages app is opening so you can read the message, then you close the app and go to the notification screen again and tap the new mail notification and the email app opens and so on...

With preview possibility one could see directly from the notification screen the text of the message and then an other preview of the new mail notification to see the text of the email. After that one can choose to clear notifications.

There could also be a Setting for the preview to automatically clear the previewed notification.

Also it would be nice to be able to even delete the sms, mail etc. directly from the notification screen after preview.

I was going to set up the quite same feature request. :) I would love to see the option that the whole notification text is cycling/scrolling by itself (or after triggering e.g. with a swipe) so that you are able to read the message/notification. :) An other idea would be to expand the notification/message so that the whole text will be shown but if think this would be to much space-consuming.

I like the idea, it would fit to the philosophy of SFOS. One thing that has to be taken into account is the time lag when opening the email. It usually takes a couple of seconds, which you did not want when peeking. So this actually has to be done already in cache which might cost a bit of performance or memory.

The feed screen on the N9 solved this: If I recall correctly It stacked sms, missed calls and notifications on top of feed with basic info such as from whom and about what they where.
