Idea: Open all apps in folder

This post is a wiki. Anyone with karma >75 is welcome to improve it.
In the next update (1.0.6.x) we will have "Folder support in app launcher area" It would be nice if we could
open all apps that are in a folder:
- with an option in pull down menu. (while we are in the folder)
- long-press-menu, when pressing the folder icon by Acce options: 'Launch all' or 'Launch all in "background" ' by veeall
This would be also interesting for the web browser, once we will be able to folder bookmarks.
Related: Possibility to launch more than one app simultaneously by tapping several icons successively in the launcher has been proposed in https://together.jolla.com/question/19845/idea-do-not-steal-focus-when-opening-multiple-apps/
I think the option could also be in a long-press-menu, when pressing the folder icon
Acce ( 2014-05-28 09:53:32 +0200 )editAnd also, enable user to tap on multiple icons sequentally - it is impossible now because after launching an app the multitasking view kicks in. Since most apps take a sec to launch, while waiting, i'd like to launch an another app.
I'd like to see, instead, nice progressbar or spinner to be implemented on appicon to give feedback of launching progress.
veeall ( 2014-05-28 13:41:47 +0200 )edit@Acce this is a good idea but at the time when we long-press in the menu we get in "uninststall" mode.
@veeall yes this is a little bit annoying. But what do you excatly mean? Open apps in the background? That would also be annoying if we want to start just one app. Because we would have then to swipe back to the multitasking view and then tap the app we started..
TK ( 2014-06-04 19:50:44 +0200 )edit@TK I back up from my idea, i get it may not fit with jolla concept.
It helped in n9 (with the help of some n9qtweak tweaks) to minimize the number of swypes to get wanted apps up and running. For example: if i knew i want several apps to be running, i tapped on opera, notes, and todos - only an app slowest to start appeared on foreground, but still i saved few swypes, for in normal process i had to launch an app, wait till it appears on screen, swype an app away, swype multitasking screen away to go to launcher screen again, swype up or down to locate an app icon, launch it, wait for application appearing, swype it away and repeat the process to launch another app. In the end, it is a long list of swypes i bypassed. :)
veeall ( 2014-06-04 20:49:54 +0200 )editFor folders, there could be a header with folder name along with 'Launch all' or 'Launch all in background'(?) button. As i remember there's always a header on these 'folder view' type of conteiners, on any OS.
