Vibration only when the phone is off? [duplicate]
Dear all,
I got a problem and I do not know which the cause can be. I thought of a Hardware failure but my thoughts are chaging towards a software failure.
These are the facts: - I dropped my phone accidentally three weeks ago and it got only a small bump in the upper right side. However, the phone kept working as if nothing had happened (yeiiiiii!!). Vibration still worked flawlessly (As per configuration, vibration is always activated) - Two days ago, while I was writing a message, the phone vibrated as usual while I was tipping the letters. While I was tipping it suddenly stopped vibrating. - I tried several restarts, configuration changes, shaking (!!). And nothing happened. No more vibration.
And now the fun facts: - When I connect the phone to the charger while it is on, I only get the charging screen-notification. - BUT, when I connect the phone to the charger when it is off, I get the charging screen-notification as well as "the usual small charging vibration-notification" and the phone begins charging.
This is the point in which I thought that maybe it wasn't a hardware failure.
Has anybody seen or experienced this behavior? I did not find anything regarding this problem. Therefore, I am writing this post.
Best regards from Germany, Fabio
Actually vibration problems are quite common on Jolla. And yes - it is usually an HW issue, but there different types of vibration and the actuator performs some of them, while not able to perform the other. And it depends on the position of the phone. Try using the CSD tool, start vibration test and shake ot tap the back of your phone. Check these thread here: https://together.jolla.com/question/20279/vibration-problem/

lupastro ( 2014-06-03 21:50:30 +0200 )editHave you tried tapping strongly the device on the back while CSD tool is running the vibrating test?
zlatko ( 2014-06-03 23:29:41 +0200 )editNot yet. I will try later. However, I noticed that the phone also does the "vibration-notification" when I power it up (without being connected to the charger).
lupastro ( 2014-06-04 07:06:05 +0200 )editI just tried the CSD Tool and the most strange thing happened. I let the Vibration Test run and the phone started vibrating. And I kept it this way for a couple minutes. Then I pressed the "passed" button.
I have repeated the test immediately after again (no position change, no shaking, nothing whatsoever) and it did not vibrate anymore....
That's really frustrating...Where is actually the vibration device?
