A couple of issues I have found with the latest Firmware update.

Firstly, 4G. Great to see this is now supported. It works on the telstra network here in Australia BUT when call a comes in there is no ring tone so I miss everything. Any ideas?

Secondly, PBAP again great to see it supported BUT even though my in car system recognises there is a Phonebook available it is obvious the formatting is incorrect as the system comes back with "No Entries Detected" message. I am using the OEM system from VW for a MY2011 Golf, this is the largest manufacturer in the world, I would have expected at least their system formatting would have been supported. Again, any ideas?

Sorry but now I am forced to go back to my HTC, I was so looking forward to ditching it.

Ringtone:

Visit Gallery > Ambience
Observe your currently active ambience
Move volume slider towards maximum
Tap on Ringtone; then on Current ringtone: it should play the tone now.

4G: Problem could be that the switch from 4G to 3/2G does not work correctly. (As far as I know, so far 4G supports data transfer only, no calls.)

4G, all ok for both voice & data. Dunno why I was having the issues but it's working no probs now.

PBAP works like a charme in a VW. What i have done: Remove the existing pairing from both(car&phone), restart the phone(I don`t know if this is necessary) and then pair again. manually select the profile for carkit. it syncs the contact and work just fine. i must say, this was in a car of a college to test it with the vw carkit. i have a fiat, in which it works well too.

Thanks for your answer but no joy, still does not load the phonebook.

The profiles listed by the phone for the VW pairing are: SPP, OPP, FTP, SYNC, HSP, A2DP, AVRCP, PAN, HFP and DID.

Doesn't look like the Phonebook access is there but my N8, Samsung Galaxy S2 & S3 and my HTC One XL were all able to load their phone books, so that's my dilemma, any ideas???

this is strange, maybe a jolla sailor can help to find the problem. I have paired my jolla with a bmw, 2 different fiat models, a vw and a volvo for test. all of them works, at least at the second try.

I have paired my Jolla with VW Passat 2014, initiating the pairing from the car UI. Everything worked in the 1st attempt. My phonebook is now in the car. The profile list shown in my phone for "VW PHONE" does not have PBAP, though.

Looks like I'll have to go and annoy VW locally. Once I get answers I'll post them.

For PBAP:

I had to initiate the synchronization from my Ford Sync to get the phonebook loaded. When I tried to initiate the synchronization from my Jolla (over Settings > System > Bluetooth sync), I got an error, that the synchronization process failed.

Before I synced, I removed the existing pairing like @Charly.

You said VW is a big company... So there are different suppliers for headunits/multimedia systems. Maybe you have same problem like I have wirh my 2009 Scirocco. It is not possible to connect because of not supported RSAP protocol. This is discussed already in some other threads... But no solution up to now:(
