Bug: Can't play youtube videos in Firefox for Android [answered]

I installed Firefox for Android from the Yandex store, but when I try to play videos from youtube.com I only get a black screen. Shouldn't be a codec issue because the same video plays fine in the stock browser.

You could also try to set your default youtube video player to "HTML5".

Visit https://www.youtube.com/html5 and click "Request HTML5 video player".

This worked for me today.

Thanks for the pointer, I didn't know that. But I believe that's not an approach Jolla can officially endorse as it bypasses the Google terms. Also, what if I'm opening a link while browsing in Firefox?

If you install Adobe Flash on your Jolla, videos should play just fine.

Thanks. I tried the instructions above several times but for some reason I never manage to open and install the Flash .apk, but that's probably me. In any case the video I was trying to open is not Flash so that shouldn't matter (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-D1KVIuvjA)

Problem is also solved by using a more modern browser than Firefox, for example Opera.
