Connectivity popup repeatedly shown when android app tries to connect

Since the latest update it is not enough to disconnect data connection to get rid of ads in android apps, the connectivity popup is being shown every 30 seconds or so (most likely depends on how often app tries to access net), the only way now to get rid of it is by going into airplane mode. Would it be possible to have the previous behaviour (ignore android apps crying about lack of connection) as an option? Or maybe it is possible from terminal?
