fm receiver inside jolla's SoC or not? [answered]
I know there's been discussion bout fm receiver but maybe someone from Jolla could let us know whether there is a fm receiver inside Jolla's SoC or not?
And could it be "activated" at some point?
We have moved to a new Sailfish OS Forum. Please start new discussions there.

This forum post might be also useful confirmation (writer is Jolla employee): http://forum.jollausers.com/sailfish-applications/fm-radio/msg1689/#msg1689
This also confirms the lack of FM wiring: https://together.jolla.com/question/1618/feature-request-dab/
There are two possible solutions:
vote my request to add FM-hardware compatibility in the next hw: https://together.jolla.com/question/2111/hardware-feature-request-would-it-be-possible-to-enable-fm-radio-hw-in-the-2nd-jolla-hardware/
vote this initiative to design FM-tuner equipped OtherHalf: https://together.jolla.com/question/5508/theotherhalf-create-otherhalf-with-fm-tuner/

tiemen ( 2013-12-28 20:12:42 +0200 )editthanks tiemen but the thread you mentioned was the reason i added this question: no one really knows for a fact if SoC has the receiver or not. So official answer from Jolla would be neat.
t0mps0 ( 2013-12-28 20:28:05 +0200 )editSoC includes FM chip (Qualcom SnapDragon 400: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snapdragon_%28system_on_chip%29#cite_note-Qualcomm_Snapdragon_400-113). However it cannot be used due to numerous hardware reasons (antenna is missing, connections are missing etc.).

"@baptx @Home5ickAlien @jolla_uk Sorry for the delay on this one, there is no FM radio." (27 nov 2013).
