According to this, if one goes out of WiFi's range, the device constantly scans for a possible internet connection.

Please add an option to prohibit this (when one goes out of the WiFi range, WiFi is turned off and no scans are being done)

I'm aware some users might prefer the current behavior, but it should be configurable.

Sounds like normal WiFi behaviour to me. How is the device going to reconnect when coming back into range if it's not sniffing the air for familiar networks? Reconnecting every time manually would be more or less frustrating, especially in areas with weak signal levels and occasional link losses.

Why should it reconnect when I'm not using the Internet? As I said it should be configurable. I wouldn't want my device to waste its battery on constant search just because I forgot to turn it off. It's configurable even on niche devices such as N900.

Maybe an option to scan in the 2 minutes after it's lost the connection. After that WIFI off.

And off course the "Disconnected" behaviour like the app on the N900. Kill connection if there is less then xx data per minute, a serious battery saver!

So maybe options like this "After losing connection: a) do nothing b) scan for n minutes [user is to set n] c) turn wifi off"

i agree with this feature. it's quite irritating also when I constantly see a popup dialog asking me to choose an internet connection.
