Use scenario: Swipe down to close apps is a nice feature. But if one mostly uses only a specific set of apps, closing those is not very useful.

To reflect the scenario it would be nice to have an option to change the swipe down to close the screen directly from any view or application. Currently the closing of the screen from inside of application requires a swipe from the side and then swipe down. Alternate way eg. press of a power button closes the screen immediately but is not as comfortable as swiping down.

UPDATE 24 Sep 2015: Closed this old request, as basic functionality is now there in version 1.1.9.28. Locking is possible when swipe to close feature is disabled. Requires tap after top swipe, but I suppose one can use unofficial patches to achieve the requested behavior. Personally I'm happy with the swipe from top and tap to close as it does not require repositioning of thumb.

Alternative idea on gesture for closing apps: https://together.jolla.com/question/1916/suggestion-new-gesture-to-close-app/

Generally I would not go for more complicated gestures against simplicity, but Otto in that thread seems to have the same idea as in my suggestion. Also the original suggestions in the other thread wouldn't be _too_ complicated, although visually a bit cluttery. It would be nice to have as an option if swipe down to close the screen would be already used up for closing the screen. My votes for both.

In Settings>System>Shortcuts there is an option to disable closing the app from swipe down.

I think the idea of @Manatus is different - to allow to go to lock screen(e.g. like pressing the power/lock button) directly with swipe down gesture. E.g.: you disable "Close by swipe down" in settings, then when you are in an application and perform swipe down - device locks screen. Currently if you disable "Close by swipe down" and do this gesture in an application - you go to multitasking screen.

Apologies. Got it wrong.

It is true however that it was a mistake from jolla to use the same gesture for two tasks. I'd prefer Swipe Down>Lock, Swipe from Right> Minimize, Swipe from Left>close, Swipe Bottom> Notfications. With Left/Right Swipe configurable for left handers.

But anyway we might get configurable swipes at some point.
