Is there a way that Jolla shows my own current phone number? Didn't find something in System and in Apps->Phone.

If not, I propose to display this important information in Apps->Phone or somewhere in the settings (didn't find an obvious place).

[Edit: maybe this is the MSISDN number; it can be displayed for my current provider with *122# - but I'd like to have the number without needing to remember cryptic codes]

I normally deal with this by making myself a Contact

Same here... I have myself in contacts with my phone numbers and saved them in my head ;-)

Unfortunately there is no standardized way how to do that. This info must be asked from the operator, but not all operators offer the same possibility to do that (and many have no possibility at all). So rather to have a feature which just works for some users on some specific operators, this is not implemented and currently also not planned to be added.

How about making it optional to enter that info first during SIM change/device setup?

Ok, I see the points. Nevertheless, technology is here to 'simplify life' and in the cases where I need to know the number it would be helpful to have a direct 'link' instead to go via the 'contact-workaround' (which I also do).

Wouldn't it be possible to act operator specific? There are maybe 50 countries supported with 3 operators each. And upon a SIM card change you could either fetch and display the MSISDN number or write 'unsupported' if the provider is not yet supported and/or does not provide the possibility. The respective field could be placed under 'System -> Connection -> SIM' (System -> Verbindung -> SIM) or, better imho, under 'Apps -> phone' (Apps -> Telefon).
