Access to terminal without developer mode
I had this on my N9 for ages - no need to access root, devel-su or whatever, just a simple terminal in case you want to access your servers via SSH or use BASH to run simple scripts.
We have moved to a new Sailfish OS Forum. Please start new discussions there.

I know this thread is old, but just in case someone is still looking. Here is what I did:
Terminal must be available but now you can't change user to devel-su

I have just installed it and now developer mode is not working! It gets stuck when trying to enable it and then it says "Problem with Store". Store is fine, Apps are installed and updated. Just Dev Mode. I uninstalled terminal by deleting the icon from the UI.Nothing! It's the second time that this is happening. Last time I reset the phone. Don't want to go there again. Any advises?

Considering the harm you can do on the phone with a terminal, I don't think that having to enable an option in the settings to see it appear is too much...
Xowap ( 2013-12-29 16:20:01 +0200 )editI think the hidden point here is that the nemo user should have access to certain stuff. Or even better: have another user that has access to pretty much nothing but lets you do SSH, simple bash scripts and alike.
gabriel ( 2013-12-29 16:40:18 +0200 )editAgreed - all I need is a sandbox to ssh out of the phone. The account itself can be very restricted.
jsiren ( 2013-12-29 17:08:11 +0200 )editAgreed, no root access needed, just normal access rights. If you remove your own photos or music, shouldn't be any problem.
Ruutana ( 2013-12-29 18:39:45 +0200 )editWould it make sense to have a fingerterm that would launch ssh instead of shell? That would allow one to ssh to a server to use irc without exposing a local shell to the user.
