We have a new release of SailfishOS SDK today. It is the first beta version of the SDK bringing major updates to the development environment. The release includes QtCreator 3.1.2, Qt5.2 and other Update 9 components.

As Update 9 software (Uitukka) is an opt-in release and introduces Qt5.2, we are faced with a special situation. The apps compiled with the new SDK are not necessarily backwards compatible. Since majority of our users are using Update 8 version of SailfishOS, we have decided to not push this SDK update automatically to existing installations.

Instead, it is available for active download from http://sailfishos.org.

Upgrade with caution Please read through the following carefully before attempting to upgrade your development environment.

  • Update 8 (SDK version 1407) and Update 9 based SDKs cannot co-exist.
  • Therefore, if you prefer to continue fixing your apps for our existing users, you may want to wait before upgrading the development environment.
  • Apps compiled with Update 9 SDK (version 1410) are not necessarily backwards compatible.

Submission of apps for Update 9 to Harbour

  • Use the "Message to QA" field during submission to indicate that you have compiled the app for Update 9.
  • Apps that are built using this SDK release will first be tested against Update 8 (1.0.8.21) in the Harbour.
  • Apps will take a bit longer to get tested and approved in case they just work on Update 9. Expect a turn-around-time of about a week before your apps are approved and published to Jolla Store.
  • Apps just working on Update 9 will be hidden from Store on devices running Update 8 or lower.
  • If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact developer-care@jolla.com

We hope to bring out a stable software release to all our users with Update 10. At that point, there should not be any need to continue using the older version of the SDK (1407). We thank you for your understanding.
