Since Mitakuuluu shouldn't be used anymore I use the official Android App. But I have two problems with it:

  1. If the phone is unlocked or only locked for a short time I get notifications about new messages in the event view. But the phone doesn't vibrate nor is the LED blinking.
  2. If the phone is locked for a longer time, probably an hour or so, the messages don't even get received (one check in my friend's client). If I unlock my phone and open Whatsapp from Task-View the message gets delivered.

I installed the Google Play Services with this manual but this didn't change anything.

Sailfish version is 1.0.8.21.

Hi @neo1973 and welcome along. Unfortunately this question is a duplicate with https://together.jolla.com/question/1394/whatsapp-notification/ so I'm closing this one. Please use search before posting, this one was the first to pop up with a keayword "whatsapp"

Hi @simo, I know about the other question, but the answers are more the 10 month old and Sailfish OS changed a lot since then. Is there really nothing new on this topic? I think lots of people are affected by this issue since the problems with mitakuuluu occurred. And I also found nothing about the Google Play Services in the original question. I thougt installing them enables Whatsapp to use Google Cloud Messaging for push notifications. Looks like I was wrong... :(

@neo1973 Yep it's an old one, but not solved - New answers and edits in the older question will lift it back as active, so let's discuss there (you can even copy your comment, and any other information, from here to there as a new answer. E.g. information that installing Play Services does not help would be a relevant new answer there. Over and out here :)

SailfishOS 2 / AlienDalvik / Lipstick uses a whitelist (/usr/share/lipstick/androidnotificationpriorities) for notifications from Android apps.

See this answer for how to add K9-Mail, Conversations, Threema, TextSecure and other apps to it: https://together.jolla.com/question/109180/feature-request-add-missing-apps-to-the-chat-application-list/?sort=votes
