Let ambiences set the ringing-volume but follow user settings after that. The default ringtone volume-slider in settings is pretty annoying of no use to anyone (I doubt that there are many people out there not using ambiences as it is the only way to have a quick change of preset ringtones and volumes), it sets the default volume for ambiences which could be a whole other settings entry of its own.

This way, a ringtone volume-slider in settings favourites would finally make sense to me and the default ringtone volume-slider could be zipped into an ambience-defaults sub setting.

This should not have any impact on people not using ambiences!

In my opinion the "default ringtone volume" slider should be replaced by the "ambience volume slider" if a favorite ambience is active. If no favorite ambience is active then it should be really the "default ringtone volume" slider. So in the settings one could always adjust the "current ringtone volume". This issue is the reason I don't use ambiences, which is a pity because I like the sounds of the Lime TOH for example...

ehrm the volume slider should change the current volume BUT not alter the ambience volume setting... reading, if I activate the ambience again it starts off with what is set for that ambience and not what I may changed earlier while using that ambience. So your "should be replaced by 'ambience volume slider'" is not what I want, I want really just the current volume be altered and have the rest untouched until I really change it in their specific settings. You can copy the sounds to the ringtone folder so you have them available there too...

@chemist Yes, that's sound good to me too. I was thinking whether it should just change the current ringtone volume or really the ambience ringtone "default" volume as well, but didn't have a clear opinion actually. Both would have pro's and con's. Anyways, the point it that the settings ringtone slider should always show the current ringtone volume and allow changing it? Ah thanks for the sound tip, just found this: https://together.jolla.com/question/28699/feature-request-show-sounds-of-special-tohs-in-general-in-sound-selection/
