Hello sailors

In the images showing the new Jolla tablet, the USB-port seems to be located on the long edge of the device.

USB location

USB port should be located to the short edge. Then you could place the tablet in landscape mode on a table, leaning on a support, without the USB cable sticking down/up. And, If I'm not wrong, in the current prototype, the stereo plug is located on the opposite edge of the USB port. When using head phones, that makes the USB location even more impractical.

Currently the design seems to be following: Practical?

See Promo video at 1:04 and 1:07. Practical?

Also the USB direction should be down when held in upright position. (unlike my Jolla phone. When charging the phone, usb cable sticking upwards annoys me).

Jolla tablet preordered, hope my opinion counts. (Shut up, and take my money)

Good point. When using earphones with my Jolla Phone I always pick it up upside-down because of the placement of the headphone-jack. Unfortunately it seems the design of the hardware is not going to be changeable at this point in time, if I understood the following post correctly:

https://together.jolla.com/question/63823/jolla-tablet-considering-hardware-requests-usefulness/

I don't currently own a tablet, but I do own a Wii-u gamepad with a stand I share your concern here. To me it would have been better to have both the 3.5mm port and the charger port on the top.

It would even be uncomfortable while holding it (with both cables plugged in) and not only in a stand. A strange design decision considering that the tablet seems to be intended to be held horizontally, since the corners are curved on those sides (looks more comfortable to hold it in that position).

If you ask me the Ideal placement would be in the middle, not in the sides, that way the cables would at least not be in the way for the hands.

According to this, the HW is not 100% set yet, so I think this request is still valid.

I don't say that I could not live with the current design, but I would be very pleased if the USB-port location would be reconsidered/designed by the Jolla-team. A compact docking station included with the tablet would work too, or what do you folks think?

Jolla Roadmapping Meeting - Friday 16.01.2015

Thank you for your contribution to the Jolla Tablet project!

We receive a lot of ideas and suggestions, which we are grateful for, but all of them can't be implemented. We've reviewed your idea and unfortunately it is not something we can implement, at least right now.

However, we will keep all suggestions, and might revisit this decision in the future if we see an opportunity to implement this feature-request in an upcoming product/SW release.

Best regards,
The Jolla Tablet Team
