Jolla native app for HERE maps [subjective]
HERE maps are "de-facto" standard for off-line navigation (personal view only). Based on previous decade long use of Ovi Maps (aka Nokia Maps) ;)
We have moved to a new Sailfish OS Forum. Please start new discussions there.

Thanks to Sailfish OS's capability to run Android apps you can use HERE for Android beta. At least for now. Works like charm on my Jolla so I expect it to work like charm on Jolla Tablet too.
The Jolla Map application use Here as backend but due to license regulation its not allowed to use this offline.
Where did you get these information from? What about changing the backend to use OSM instead?

Does anyone know if this capability will be on the newly announced Nokia tablet? Is this restriction to give Nokia an advantage over the competition? My reason for wanting a Jolla device is for native Jolla apps. If I wanted to run Google apps I would buy an Android.
You can use OsmAnd - the de-facto standard for Android with Open-Street-Maps and Offline or Online Turn Navigation: works like a charm :)
Thanks for sharing! Have been spoiled by HERE Map Android Beta. Unlimited global map downloads for off-line use. No charges for current beta version. However, accuracy and precision in Asia has been confirmed. Really the same quality as Ovi Maps. Not open source like OsmAnd.
