I have read a lot of topics already concerning the google play services solutions, but i just want to be able to download the google android market so that i can inshore their app's as well. I love my Jolla, that i have in use now for a few weeks. But in the Netherlands, a lot off "important" apps are only available via Google store. For example: -Banking apps. -My declaration app for my health insurance. -Strava app. Will it be possible in the future to download apps via this store?

I really hope so then the Jolla Phone will be PERFECT!

Please note that I have read the topic how to download it via other ways but please believe me, I am just your regular phone user without any knowledge about the technical possibilities on software site, who adores the look and feel of the Jolla.

Regular users can install Aptitude, from the Jolla store. Many apps are available from there, even the Dutch-oriented apps.

Installing google play services has severe privacy implications. Privacy is a strong point of Jolla. Why ruin that?

You are right about the Aptitude store, there are a lot of apps there and also in the Jolla store enough apps :-) But not the apps that I mentioned in my post. According to the privacy implication, there you have a strong point. However, I personally use already Facebook and google on my computer as well so...

Maybe this will never happen. Google is very restrictive in allowing other companys including the google play services - even more, if theres no android is running on the target device ( the Jolla ). As you said, you're just a normal user. So to make this clear: "Don't be evil" is no longer a thing at google. They want to sell service agreements and don't want even more competitive. At the moment you have 2 capabilities:

  1. There are several APK downloaders available in the internet. But watch out! Installing apps from other non trusted websites is not that save. Even more if you want to install banking apps ( would not recommend using these apps anyway )
  2. Use the "workarounds" from TJC you mentioned. It's not that bad - trust me ;) Even official android device user have to install the GAPPS manually when they using a custom firmware.

Hope that i was able to help, sqozz

Thanks for your answer. Well without Google apps store I will also survive ;-) I like the jolla to much already. I have already tested point 1 and indeed, like you already said, I received 6 different banking apps for my bank were I could chose from ;-) So no banking app for me on Jolla :-) Point 2: I have tried but halfway I really didn't know what I was doing at all. So I got scarred, as a software no-no that I am, to mess things up on my new Jolla phone.
