I wanted to know if it would be possible to use a hardware-based image stabilization module for the rear-facing camera (OIS). If not, will digital image stabilization be utilized instead? How about a higher megapixel rear shooter like you have for your phone camera module?

I don't think there is really need for OIS in tablet. And MP is not all... I'd rather like to have a good 5MP camera, than a bad 8MP one. ;)

The cameras in the Jolla tablet are more then adequate for a tablet. Why would anyone be using their tablet for taking pictures when most people have a smartphone, which is a more natural form factor with a better camera? I purchased a Jolla tablet via Indiegogo

You clearly haven't seen the tourists of today. There are many people who take their holiday pictures with iPad or Android tablet these days.

Hi BrettPlusOne,

the hardware specs for the tablet are already fixed(see other hardware related requests), on tjc you can participate on features or software-requests. So in my opinion, there will not be a higher resulation. OIS I don't know but I doubt that this feature is planned, since this feature is quite a good one for advertising the tablet but it isn't mentioned already.

Actually there is about equal amount of information indicating the the specs are fixed and that they are not fixed as far as I can tell. :)

Yeah you're right. My information was related to an older post... You might have read this But neverless I think OIS won't come to a tablet with this pricetag also beeing nearly finalized on hardware-side. But I also would love to see this feature in Jolla 2 cause I don't use a tablet for taking pictures ;)

Yeah, OIS makes quite the difference! I got a new point-and-shoot camera recently and it has OIS, while the old one I had (which broke down) had only the simple "digital" image stabilization. The difference is easily visible, especially when recording a video or taking pictures in low light conditions.
