Some of them seem to, I wasn't able to detect a pattern though. (Aptoide for example shows in the notifications screen that updates are available.)

Crypto ( 2014-12-03 17:08:59 +0200 )editMost android apps use a background process to receive notifications, if that's running they will receive notifications, what happens is that those background processes get killed when device is running out of memory or when memory is needed for a new app the user just open. Some tuning for this is on the works.
