[request] [option] Allow looking for apps sideways

As I don't use the phone one handed, I find it uncomfortable to look for apps toward the bottom, instead of to the side (usual direction right in other platforms, but some people might prefer left).

A side effect of such an option would be that the natural location for the favourite apps would be 2 the side, allowing to place more of them (there's enough space in the screen to make the covers thinner).

This also decreases confusion with the gesture to call up the notification screen.

I understand if scrolling to the sides seems more natural to you, if you have gotten used to other OS's, but how is scrolling up-down / left-right, better or worse when using the phone with two hands?

It is an unnatural movement to scroll up. It has nothing to do with familiarity with other platforms

This is a pretty radical change because it radically disrupts the big picture of interactions. What is to the left from apps? What is to the top from apps? Is the second apps page to the bottom or to the right?

The second page is the second page.

@pulsar How so? Is it unnatural to scroll vertically through FB or Twitter feeds? Or through any general list of items ordered vertically for that matter? I understand if you have a preferred direction, but I don't think one is more natural than the other.

If this is not changed, here's a workaround you can use:

  • Move all your applications into 4 folders. This enables accessing 80 applications (20 in each folder) with just 2 taps from the home screen. Might be even better for two hand UI than sideways
  • If you have more than 80 apps in use, leave the ones you don't use to the launcher screen (accessible via flick-up gesture)

My own current setup:

Home screen:

  • PeoplePhoneCalendarFOLDER (with 13 often used apps)

Launcher screen:

  • 18 other less used applications and 6 more app folders with even less used apps

This could be done as a new feel.. like. once you flick down from the home screen then you have to flick sideways for apps.. .. this is a suggestion .. instead of having a elongated ui this will have a brader ui... even other implimentations could be made to this..
