visual sorting of apps? [not relevant]

Different ways of sorting the apps have been mentioned here at TJC but I haven't seen a visual sorting method being suggested.

Suggestion

The apps could be sorted by the looks of the app icons. The colour of the spectrum would go from top to bottom. Dark icons to the right and light ones to the left.

The first thing that comes to my head is, Is the OS aware of the color of the icons? I do not know if that information is provided as metadata for the icon by the app developer, and doubt the OS has a method of obtaining color codes out of icon images.

@mimabe - The OS knows how to display the icons so it should be able to calculate the average colour too.
