[question] vk.com account support planned?

VK's mobile HTML version is kind of perfect atleast on firefox os , I am assuming it would be the same on the sailfish browser as well , anyways having a native sailfish app would encourage entire russian speaking world to check out Jolla. so dear sailors make it a priority. https://vk.com/dev/standalone is a nice guide for app developers.

VK support is something we've been hoping to include for some time. Some development effort has been spent in this direction (see for example the synchronisation adapters which were developed https://github.com/nemomobile/buteo-sync-plugins-social/tree/vk/src/vk last year). However to continue with support, we need permission from VK to allow our application to access certain APIs, and to confirm that our integration doesn't conflict with their platform policies.

Communication with VK has been ongoing for months, and I'm personally pushing to try to ensure that this one is a high priority going forward. Once we have agreement with them, then we can spend the time to rewrite the sync adapters and integration plugins to work with the latest SailfishOS codebase, but until then we cannot do much.

@virgi26 yes, we had a teleconference with a representative from VK, who (as I understand it) gave us permission to use any of their open APIs in our native integration. Once the tablet has shipped, I will turn my focus to this. I did spend some effort updating the vk branch of the repo I linked above, and can confirm that data synchronisation is working nicely. Immediate next steps will be: 1) sharing images to VK from device, 2) enabling commenting / liking on posts and images from device. More long-term steps will include adding chat/messaging support, but this remains to be investigated.

However, until the tablet has finally shipped I don't expect to have much spare time to follow up on this VK integration work.

Nice to see them added as Sync plugins . Does it mean VK would be integrated as service rather than individual client ?
